While studying English at Louisiana State University, I found myself drawn not only to literature itself, but to the larger questions literature raises about suffering, purpose, faith, and the human experience. Looking back, these essays reveal the beginnings of themes that would remain with me throughout my career and eventually find their way into my essays and book, Resurrection Fern: Trying to Understand It All.
